To commemorate the month, the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) invites all members of the Hispanic Community to a special fishing event Saturday, Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Carondelet Park in St. Louis. This is a free event for all ages happening at the Carondelet Boathouse Lake. Families are welcome. MDC will provide bait and fishing equipment, but participants are also welcome to bring their own. The event is open to all abilities, and MDC staff will be on hand to help beginners learn the basics of fishing and why and how permits help keep this great resource going for all to enjoy! Boathouse Lake is a public catch-and-keep lake stocked and managed by MDC, so participants can keep fish they catch within the daily possession and length limits of the lake. For complete details, go to http://short.mdc.mo.gov/oNz. MDC will set up an educational touch table featuring mammal furs and engaging facts about common animals in the area. Free snow cones will be available for a limited time, too. Juvenal Escobar
