Predating firearms and even bows, the atlatl is an ancient hunting tool still used today. The atlatl throws a spear or dart farther and with more power than with arm strength alone. These tools were used by Native Americans like those that inhabited Missouri to gather food efficiently, even making them capable of taking down large mammals. Join us at the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center for an Introduction to atlatl including; throwing practice, anatomy of an atlatl, and more. This class is part of Conservation Kids and open to ages 7-11. Evan R Smoot
