Looking to unplug and touch some grass? How about we touch some water instead? There are many opportunities around KC to immerse yourself in nature, and hopping on a kayak and paddling down our local rivers is one of the greatest opportunities. Whether you are new to kayaking or wanting to explore a new area close by; join MDC staff in a short paddle down the Platte River at Platte Falls Conservation Area. We will learn about reading rivers, paddle strokes, kayaks, and equipment; all while soaking in the natural beauty of our wild spaces. Participants will get an email of the exact location on the Platte River prior to the float. Kayaks, paddles, and life jackets (PFDs) are provided, though you are welcome to bring your own. Make sure to have your own water, snacks, and dress appropriately for the weather. Closed toe shoes are required. Event is dependent on weather and river conditions. We will monitor the river conditions and communicate with participants as needed. This activity involves a moderate level of physical ability.
