| This one-mile foraging skills adventure is designed for people who want a deeper, hands-on look at the natural environments that shape our region. The hike route leads through streamside habitats, dry and moist forests, and open field ecosystems, offering a rich variety of plants and fungi to discover and observe. Participants will learn to identify edible and toxic plants, understand which parts are safe to eat, explore ethical collection practices, and discuss the medicinal uses of wild herbs. The trail includes rugged terrain, moderate slopes, and shallow stream crossings, adding a sense of adventure to the experience. Long pants, long sleeved shirts, and close toed shoes that can get wet are recommended. Please note that there are no restroom facilities at this site. Registrants will be notified 24 hours in advance if weather requires cancellation. |
