| New Hope Baptist Church is hosting a "Community Conservation Day for Kids" on Saturday, June 13. Activities will include archery, BB gun target shooting, primitive fire-starting using flint and steel, and "Backyard Bass" fish casting. - Archery program will teach the fundamentals of archery including equipment, safety, stance, and shooting techniques This event is for ages 5-18 with the desire to shoot a bow and arrow but have little or no experience. Note: The minimum draw on the mini-Genesis bows is 8 lbs.; youth must be able to be able to pull back this weight to participate. - Staff will provide one-on-one hunter education instruction during BB gun target shooting. - Youth will learn how to "catch" a spark using char cloth during primitive fire-starting with flint and steel. Participants will use the glowing ember to ignite a ball of fine fibers to start a fire. - Test you fish casting skills while playing "Backyard Bass" game. - Noon meal for registered youth provided by New Home Baptist Church MDC is working with New Home Baptist Church in providing this Community Conservation event; equipment for the activities listed above are provided by MDC. Program is Saturday, June 13, 2026 (10 AM - 2 PM). Program is for 40 youth ages 5-18 and registration is required.
