Join us to learn the ancient art of flintknapping! Flintknapping is the process of chipping away materials from flint, chert, obsidian, glass, and other high silica materials in a controlled manner to make sharp tools. Flintknapping techniques like spalling, percussion, indirect percussion, and pressure flaking will be demonstrated. Participants will be provided knapping tools to use during the workshop to transform a high silica material into an arrowhead or scrapper. Please bring along water, leather gloves OR rubber/polyurethane coated work gloves, and safety goggles. Gloves and safety goggles will be worn during the entirety of the class (safety goggles can be provided to use during the workshop if needed). Please wear long pants and closed-toe footwear since sharp debris is created while knapping. Dwight Warnke
