| Seed Catalogs and Sweatpants There’s nothing better on a winter’s day than flipping through seed catalogs, sipping hot tea, and planning a native garden. Toss on some comfy lounging wear and come plan a native planting with us! In this casual workshop, you will sketch and plan a native planting for your chosen area. Native plants have so many uses. Your planting can focus on pollinators, wild edible plants, dyes/inks, cordage, wildlife cover, etc. or a combination of all of these. We will have a couple of examples of different types of gardens, like wild teas and dyes. Private Land Conservationists will be on hand to provide expert advice on planting larger areas too. We will have seed catalogs, native wildflower guides, grid paper, and pencils available for you to use during the workshop. We will also have instructions for you to winter sow native seedlings and a few native seeds to share. Enjoy some wild edible treats with us that highlight the amazing wild flavors you can easily plant that will benefit both people and wildlife. Please bring along a couple of photos of the area you wish to plant and some rough measurements so that we can sketch the area out on grid paper and pick some native plants that match the area well (sunlight and moisture) to set you up for success. |
