Join us at Rockwoods Reservation for the first ever Winter Edition of Camp Hellbender-no newts allowed! Camp Hellbender is designed to let adults feel like a kid again and have some fun outdoors while exploring some of the best conservation areas in the region that MDC has to offer! For this special winter camp, we’ll spend the morning outside for a special maple sugar lesson. We’ll learn all about tree identification, the tapping process, the history of maple sugaring, and how to turn sap into syrup. After a lunch break, we’ll learn how to make baskets using an invasive vine called Wintercreeper, with a quick lesson on how it’s a problem and how to identify it. Each participant will get to make and keep their own basket! Please bring a water bottle, lunch, and any snacks you may want. Refrigeration will be available if needed. Please dress in layers to ensure comfort for both inside and outside portions of the camp. This program is part of our ongoing Camp Hellbender Series! Campers will receive a sticker to commemorate each camp they attend throughout the year. Maura Horton
