Nature journaling is a beautiful practice that blends observation, curiosity, and creative expression to deepen your connection with the natural world. In this intro class, we’ll explore the why’s and how’s of being fully present in nature—and how to capture those moments using a combination of words, sketches, numbers, and found materials. We will also build our own JUNK JOURNALS, using recycled and repurposed items to create personalized nature journals that reflect each participant’s unique style. It’s not about being an artist or a scientist—it’s about showing up, slowing down, paying attention, and recording what you notice. We’ll also discuss different journaling styles, inspiring people, and natural events that encourage us to pause and enjoy the moment. Basic supplies will be provided, including paper, glue, scissors, and decorative elements. Feel free to bring: Old magazines, maps, or scrap paper Stamps, stickers, washi tape Envelopes, tags, or fabric scraps Pens, pencils, markers Any personal materials that inspire you Binoculars, water, and a chair if you’d like one This class will be outside at Dunnegan Park, so dress for the weather. We will be in the back of the park, near the pond. Please bring any materials you would like to use for your personal journal. Stacia Skinner
