Additional Information: Instructed by:
Brain tanning is a centuries old process used by the Native Americans and it yields incredibly soft leather. This class will review the history of the art and then go over tools needed to do the work, as well as supplies. We will spend most of the time discussing steps in the process and resources where you can find more information. The course will be largely focused on deer hides with options for hair-on and hair-off tanning. In addition, you will discover the true origin of the word buckskins and it may not be what you think! This class will be a good comparison and companion to the bark tanning class held earlier on this same day. ARRON J HENDERSHOTT
