Join the Missouri Department of Conservation for a unique, on-the-water experience as we paddle through Creve Coeur Lake and dive into the world of aquatic conservation. This free, guided kayak trip is co-led by a naturalist and a fisheries biologist who will share firsthand insights into the ongoing invasive carp removal project taking place right here in our community. Participants will learn how invasive carp impact local ecosystems, discover the innovative strategies being used to manage their populations, and see conservation in action from the vantage point of the lake itself. Along the way, we’ll also highlight native wildlife, aquatic habitats, and the importance of maintaining ecological balance in Missouri’s waterways. Whether you're an avid paddler, a conservation enthusiast, or just curious about the behind-the-scenes work that helps protect our natural resources, this program offers a memorable way to connect with nature and learn more about the vital work happening in your backyard. During this kayaking program you will learn about paddling equipment, paddling safety, and how to paddle a kayak on a lake. All equipment will be provided. Please meet near the Taco Bell Pavilion located at Creve Coeur park. Participants must be at least 14 years of age and able to swim to participate in this event. Closed toe shoes are required and be prepared to get wet. Participants 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Refillable water bottles and sunscreen are encouraged. Come paddle with purpose—see how science and stewardship are shaping the future of Missouri’s lakes! Lauren Baker
