This program is hosted by the Webster Groves Nature Study Society Nature Book Group. The book that will be covered this month is Slow Birding: the Art and Science of enjoying Birds in your own Backyard, by Joan E. Strassmann. She is a local resident and evolutionary biologist who recently gave a talk at a WGNSS General Meeting. Her book describes the most common backyard birds in the United States, and their behaviors. Join us as we share ideas and perspectives, and challenge assumptions. Discussion points may include: What did you wonder about when reading this book? Did this book make you think differently about anything? Did it introduce you to a new point of view, new ideas, or new information? What is your favorite bird? Come a little early or stay after the meeting to see what birds are visiting the feeders at Powder Valley. |
