Registration to this and other MDC Programs implies intent to attend. This honors the time and effort of MDC instructors as well as consideration of limited program space. The Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) is a worldwide community science event developed by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the National Audubon Society. It takes place during Presidents Day weekend each year, which is from February 14-17, this year. During the event, anyone can count birds that they see in their yards, local parks and/or nature reserves and submit their data on-line. This family friendly program will introduce participants to details about the Great Backyard Bird Count and how it works, followed by an actual count of birds found around Powder Valley Nature Center. Bird identification and participating in entering the official bird count data through the on-line platform, eBird, will be demonstrated. No prior knowledge of birds is needed. Bringing binoculars is encouraged but not required. DAVID J BRUNS
