Primitive skills represent a collection of skills practiced and used by our ancestors in their daily life. In today’s busy world we can use these skills to connect us to the slower pace of the natural world. By learning the methods by which early people lived we begin to form profound authentic relationships to ourselves, our community, and the natural world. Join our team of conservation and skills educators from the Missouri Department of Conservation and the Missouri Atlatl Association in an exciting journey through historic and primitive skills of survival. Educators will introduce you to a variety of topics that will include, native plant cordage, hunting techniques including atlatls & long bows, primitive tools, and working with natural materials such as hides, fur, and plants. This interactive discussion will provide participants with a basic knowledge and understanding of these skills. Future programming at the Boone County Nature School will focus on developing the physical and practical application of these skills. |
