This month at Powder Valley, we are proud to be displaying the top entries from Missouri's youth for the Federal Junior Duck Stamp Conservation and Design Program. Each year, tens of thousands of students spend time exploring wetlands and waterfowl and learning about the anatomy and ecological needs of their chosen species of waterfowl. They share what they have learned through a painting or drawing. Top entries from each State contest are sent to the National Junior Duck Stamp Contest from which an overall winner is chosen. A $5 stamp is created from the national entry and the stamp is sold to raise funds to promote conservation education in every state, Washinton D.C., and the U.S. territories. On display are several groups ranked by grade level with ribbons highlighting the three 1st place pieces, three 2nd place pieces, three 3rd places pieces, and honorable mentions for all artworks. Also featured is the Best of Show artwork that has been sent on from Missouri to compete nationally in the contest. This exhibit will be up throughout the month of November only.
