Cane poles are one of the simplest forms of traditional fishing. This program will introduce use of the cane pole, casting technique, landing and handling fish, and pole and line maintenance. An opportunity to practice cane pole fishing (catch and release) will follow the instruction portion of this program. No need to bring equipment. Cane poles will be provided, and participants will get to bring a cane pole home at the end of the program. In the event of weather-related cancellation, registrants will be notified by email at least 24 hours prior to the start of the program. DAVID J BRUNS

Location Information

Originally established in 1879, the Forest Park Hatchery was the first fish culture activity in Missouri. Today this fish hatchery is no longer operated for fish farming but rather for educational programming.

Age Policy:

All registrants for this event must be between 6 and 100 years of age by 10/13/2024.
