Many of us drive over the Missouri River without giving it a second thought. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to explore Missouri’s most magnificent natural resource in a canoe? It is magic to be on the river! We will explore a 14 mile stretch on the Missouri River from Rocheport in Columbia, MO to Coopers Landing near Easley, MO. Estimated time on the water is appx. 4 hours. To gain access to the river in Rocheport, we will be trekking, with our canoes, about 200 yards on uneven terrain. The trip itself is also a couple miles longer than our typical excursions. However, this added bit of difficulty will be well worth the sights of the bluffs and the wildlife that we are bound to see. Please dress for the weather, wear closed-toe shoes and bring water, snacks, and a head lamp or flashlight. Transportation to and from Rocheport MO will be on your own. MDC will provide canoes, paddles, and PFD’s. This program is dependent on weather and river conditions. Participants will be contacted if conditions are not acceptable on the day of the event. All participants MUST register separately. *Mandatory orientation on October 3rd from 5:00-7:00pm at Burr Oak Woods Education Pond. You will automatically be registered into the orientation upon registration for this event. Those aged 15-17 must have an adult chaperone attending the trip. **Please do not register if you are not able to come to the orientation** Nikki Voss
