Stockton Lake Alternative Methods Catfishing – Lake to Table Clinic Using alternative methods to harvest catfish from Missouri waters has a rich tradition in our state and is an exciting way to enjoy Missouri’s vast waters. If you have never used alternative catfishing methods or just want to enhance your skills, then this clinic is for you! MDC Education, Fisheries, and Protection staff are partnering to conduct an alternative catfishing clinic on Stockton Lake, August 15th and 16th. The clinic will be conducted over a 2-day period and all equipment and supplies will be provided for participants. Registered participants must attend both days. If you would like to register but have a conflict and unable to attend both sessions email Lyle.whittaker@mdc.mo.gov to see if accommodations can be made. The clinic will include: Thursady August 15th 4:00pm – 6:00pm • A short program at the Greenfield High School Agriculture classroom and Shop Topics covered: - Alternative catfishing equipment and methods (limb lines, jug lines, and trot lines) - Successful tactics and strategies - Catfish biology and season patterns - Water safety - Bait types - Regulations • Each participant will build a jug line for catfishing 6:00pm-Dusk • Participants will take to the water in groups of 4-6 - Bait and set jugs - Demonstration of setting / baiting trot and limb lines Friday August 16th 8:00am-10:00am • Participants will meet at the Greenfield Public Access boat ramp to run and collect lines 10:00am-Noon (Participants will return to Greenfield High School) • Catfish cleaning / demonstration • Fry fish for lunch (chips and water will be provided) Participants can bring their own PFDs however they will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring personal snacks, water, and a sacked dinner for Thursday the 15th. All participants, if not exempt, must possess a valid Missouri fishing license. Harvested fish will be divided among participants! The courtesy dock and the boats being used are NOT handicap accessible. All registered participants must be under 16 years of age must be accompanied by and adult.
