Nature's Needlers is a monthly series that features a nature presentation along with a customized quilt block pattern to take home and complete at your own pace. The 2024 theme is "Missouri's Conservation Success Stories." Join us this month for our 8th block which is the eastern collared lizard. The unique glade ecosystems of the Ozarks were once home to many eastern collared lizards. This charismatic reptile has faced challenges in recent decades, leading to drastic population decline but thanks to intensive habitat restoration work and species reintroduction, this colorful lizard is again able to play a critical role on Missouri glades.
