The Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) is a worldwide community science event developed by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the National Audubon Society. It takes place during Presidents Day weekend each year, which is from February 16-19, this year. During the event, bird enthusiasts count birds that they see in their yards, local parks and/or nature reserves and submit their data on-line. This virtual program will introduce participants to details about this event, what it is, how it works, and how to participate. Bird ID tools and identification of common birds expected to be seen in our area will also be covered. A link to this virtual program will be sent to the email address associated with the MDC Events Account used to register for this program. (If you do not receive this email one day ahead of the program, check your “junk” email folder.) See also, several other GBBC MDC Events offered in St. Louis during the actual bird count weekend. |
