Follow a seldom-used trail through the winter woods and look for long-buried, forgotten treasures under the fallen leaves. Notice the stark beauty of the bark and branches of the trees and the bright red berries of the deciduous holly against the sky-blue background. We will identify some of the trees by observing the characteristics of their shape, bark color, buds, twigs, and fallen fruits. Warm up with hot chocolate at the end of the hike. Dress for the weather with sturdy shoes or boots. Bring a water bottle and a walking stick if you have one. Bring your camera. Meet the naturalist guides at lot "H," which is a 20-minute drive from the Columbia Bottom front gate. Anna Cooke
