Owls serve an important role in controlling the population numbers of the prey species they eat. Owls can’t digest the bones and fur of their prey, so they often leave behind what we know as an “owl pellet”. This pellet can tell us, and MDC researchers, a lot about the health of the owl as well as the health of the habitat. Join us to discover the fascinating adaptations of owls and their unique role in the ecosystem. Participants will explore exactly what they eat by dissecting an owl pellet and analyzing the evidence inside. Meet in the classrooms at Powder Valley.
