Join us for a morning of mushroom education, presented by Mike Snyder of WildWise Botanicals. Mike has been studying and foraging fungi for over a decade now. He spends a lot of time doing walks, talks and workshops in order to spread the awareness of and knowledge about the fungi of our region. He is on the Board of Directors and Chair of the Research Committee for the Missouri Mycological Society as well as a member of the Cultivation Committee for the North American Mycological Association. He loves nothing more than sharing the knowledge he has gained and trying to spark an interest in fungi in as many people as possible. We will gather at Bray Conservation Area, where Mike will present a short talk about the basics of identifying fungi along with tips on how to safely and responsibly forage for them. We will then venture into the woods to see what kinds of fungi we can encounter and learn about. Our Ozark forest ecosystems are home to many incredible fungi, and hopefully we will encounter plenty for everyone to observe. Focus will be on edible and poisonous mushrooms, but other species will be discussed as we find them. While information about foraging mushrooms will be the main focus, the ecological interactions of fungi will be covered as well. Registration will be limited to 25 participants. We hope you can join us for this fun and informative morning in the woods! Dwight Warnke
