An atlatl is a handheld lever used to provide leverage and power while throwing a light spear known as a dart. Learn about this ancient hunting tool and try your hand at casting a few darts! This program is in conjunction with the Explore MOre outdoor exploration event at Shaw Nature Reserve. Orienteering, fire starting, casting a fishing line, and guided hikes will also be featured at the Explore MOre event. Pre-registration for Atlatl on this website is recommended, not required. Shaw Nature Reserve is in Gray Summit on the south side of I-44, (exit #253) 22 miles west of the I-44/I-270 interchange. Check in at the entrance building and let them know you are attending the Explore MOre event to gain free admission into the Nature Reserve. |
