Notice the sounds of nature all around as stroll the trail to the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers at Columbia Bottom. Listen for the chattering of the birds as they flit from tree to tree and the chorus of gray treefrogs. Even the cottonwood trees have a special sound when the leaves are stirred by the spring breeze. When we return to the main road, we will be able to see the sunset over the fields and prairies. Meet at lot “L,” about a 15-minute drive from the front entrance. Dress for the weather, and wear shoes that may get wet or muddy. REBECCA A RODRIGUEZ
