Join a naturalist as we discuss Missouri’s most endangered natural community- the prairie. With twelve different types of prairies in Missouri, some of the most imperiled plants and animals call these unique communities home. Voices of the prairie such as the eastern meadowlark, Bell’s vireo, and bobolink are declining at rapid rates. Charismatic megafauna such as elk and bison, which were once very common, are now a rare site at our Missouri prairies. We will discuss why prairies are important and what you can do to help these important natural communities in Missouri. This is a virtual program; registrants will receive a Webex link with instructions no later than 5pm the day of the program. Please register each person participating. |
