Prescribed burning can be a valuable tool for managing native plant diversity and controlling undesirable vegetation, but it can be dangerous and ineffective when not used properly. This workshop will provide basic information about how to plan and execute a prescribed burn for grassland management.

The class will be entirely indoors and will include some equipment demonstrations, videos, and an opportunity for attendees to ask questions and discuss prescribed burning with MDC staff. Attendees should bring with them a copy of their online training certificate and a mileage log sheet.. The doors to the classroom are located on the back side of the Brookfield High School, in the service entrance between the high school and the career center. Upon registration, participants will be given a link to the virtual/online portion of the prescribed burn course. The online course is a mandatory prerequisite. Shane Strommer
