Golds, greens, yellows, browns, and maybe an orange, peach, or red. In celebration of "A Year in Color" Cape Nature Center is offering a monthly class focused on dyeing fiber with materials you can find and harvest nearby. Each month we’ll explore a new plant (or mushroom), how and when it can be harvested, and how it can be used to create a natural palette. This program is intended for anyone interested in dyeing with natural materials regardless of experience level; attendance every month is not required. At the end of the series you’ll have the opportunity to create something with the fiber you’ve dyed. For August our feature plant is dogbane. We will take time during this class to harvest dogbane; however, the area we'll harvest from is accessible from a sidewalk and paved parking lot. All materials will be supplied including fiber. However, if you prefer to bring your own fiber we'll dye up to100g additional animal-based fiber. If you are participating in Cape Nature Center’s “A Year in Color” this program earns a wild bead.
