Wild blackberries are found statewide in Missouri, and fruits can be harvested from late June through August. Come join Powder Valley Naturalists as we pick blackberries at Young Conservation Area in Jefferson County. We will spend roughly an hour picking blackberries on the evening of July 20th at Young Conservation Area in Jefferson County. Then join us at Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center at 10am on July 21st to cook up a tasty recipe using your wild blackberries! Wear long sleeves and field pants that can withstand the thorny blackberry bushes. Bring a hat, sunscreen, water, and bug spray. Most of the blackberry patches are near the parking lot, so we won’t be venturing too far. Register each person attending the program individually. Only those registered will be allowed to participate in the Powder Valley portion of the program due to limited space and supplies. This program will meet at Young Conservation Area in Jefferson County at 7pm on July 20th then we at 10am at Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center in Kirkwood the following morning (July 21st). Directions and instructions will be sent to those participating two days in advance. **Please register each person attending** |
