Get ready to explore a Missouri cave! Join Runge naturalists as we discover the natural wonders inside Hunter’s Cave at Three Creeks Conservation Area (Boone County). Runge will provide round-trip transportation (depart from Runge Nature Center in Jefferson City). Pack a water bottle and dress for the weather. Caves are typically 55-57 degrees Fahrenheit so you may wish to bring an additional layer of clothing. Rubber boots or sturdy closed-toe shoes that can get wet are required since a good portion of the caving experience involves walking in chilly water. Hard hats and flashlights provided, but feel free to bring your own. Access to the cave requires a 15-minute hike in hilly terrain and entering a small gate with an opening that is approximately three feet tall and two feet wide. Each participant will need to submit a permission form signed by a parent or guardian. Please contact the program instructor if you have any questions or concerns regarding the experience.
