Lilly Mulligan has been drawing photorealistic birds and other Missouri wildlife for three years. At 18 years old, Lilly is one of the youngest artist ever to be featured at Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center. She is an avid birdwatcher and photographer, and her drawings are often inspired by her own photography. Lilly strives to capture each creature’s unique personality and expression in her drawings. Lilly was adopted from Guatemala by two loving mothers and her appreciation of nature stems from the many trips they took to Creve Coeur Park when she was a child. By the time Lilly was a sophomore at Parkway South, her love for birds blossomed, and birds became the subject of most of her pieces. Lilly achieved 1st place in the Manchester Focus Photo Contest Teen Division, and she was selected to become a member of the National Arts Honor Society. Lilly will attend Meramec College in the fall then plans to graduate from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. Her dream is to become a scientific illustrator. She also hopes to launch her own website showcasing and selling her artwork. “I wish to express my undying love for nature and to share it with others. I want to show the beauty of nature in our everyday environment. But most of all, I hope to inspire others to help protect the ecosystem we share.” ~Lilly Mulligan Instagram: @the.woodpecker.studio Shelly Colatskie
