Northern Bobwhite Quail are a small game bird that were plentiful in Missouri. Their numbers have declined significantly since the 1960s. The Missouri Department of Conservation has several programs focused on recreating quality habitat to help restore their numbers. We will learn about this little bird, its life cycle, habitat needs, and what we can do to help. Then we will cook a couple of birds so we can taste and see why they are such a favorite with hunters. The birds we are cooking were farm raised and not harvested from the wild. If you are participating in Cape Nature Center “A Year in Color” this program earns a purple bead. |
