Muskie Fishing Program – Virtual and In-person -Fellow’s Lake Did you know the Missouri Department of Conservation stocks Muskie in Fellow’s Lake, just north of Springfield? Do you want to learn basic Muskie fishing methods? This hands-on workshop is for YOU! MDC Conservation Educator, Lyle Whittaker, is partnering with the Watershed Committee of the Ozarks and City Utilities of Springfield to offer this unique opportunity for anglers who want to give Muskie fishing a try! This workshop has multiple parts, part 1 is a virtual program on May 5th. This will be followed by 2 fishing sessions on May 7. This will give anglers hands-on experience fishing for muskie. The registration links for the two fishing sessions will be posted on the MDC Events page at 8:00am on April 5th! ( Participants may only register for one fishing session, either the morning or evening) Anglers attending the in-person fishing events on May 7, must participate in the virtual program on May 5. Eighteen anglers will be allowed to register for a morning fishing trip (7:30am-11:30am) and Eighteen anglers will be allowed to register for an evening trip (4:00pm-7:30pm.)) We will be casting and trolling for muskie but remember Fellow’s Lake holds a healthy population of walleyes as well (that’s why it is called fishing!) Anglers attending should have basic experiences in casting and operating a spinning reel. All equipment and supplies will be provided by MDC, however, anglers are welcome to bring their own poles, tackle, and PFD (Personal Floatation Device.) All participants must possess a current Missouri fishing permit (if not exempt.)
