Registration required (adults) ORIENTATION: Required orientation will be presented at the Burr Oak Woods W. Robert Aylward Education Pond. MDC will provide canoes, kayaks and PFD’s (life vest). Attend the required orientation to learn about Missouri River navigation, fishing the river and to brush up on your canoe strokes before we head out on the river. We will prepare you for your upcoming float. Participants must attend the orientation to participate in the float. FLOAT: Are you curious about landing one of the Missouri River’s big catfish? Join our crew as we set out in canoes on a 17-mile float trip that begins at the Schimmel City Access on the Platte River. After passing through the confluence, and entering the Missouri, we will try our hand at catching one of these legends. We will conclude our day with a leisurely float to Platte Landing in Parkville. Please dress for the weather and bring a hat, water and sunscreen. Bring a simple lunch to enjoy out on the river. Participants under age 65 will need a fishing permit. *MDC will provide all equipment including PFD's (life vests) for each person. Participants are welcome to bring their own Coast Guard approved PFD if they prefer. PFD'S will be required on MDC boats at all times. This program is dependent on safe weather and river conditions. Participants will be contacted if conditions are not acceptable on the weekend of the event. All participants MUST register separately. When registering please include a valid email address for correspondence of instructions and other communications from the instructor for this float. John Rittel
