Wild blackberries are found statewide in Missouri, and fruits can be harvested from late June through August. Come join Powder Valley Naturalists as we pick blackberries at Young Conservation Area in Jefferson County. We will spend roughly an hour picking blackberries, and then head to Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center to make a blackberry cobbler, and a blackberry syrup for vanilla ice-cream. Wear long sleaves and field pants that can withstand the thorny blackberry bushes. Bring a hat, sunscreen, water, and bug spray. Most of the blackberry patches are near the parking lot, so we won’t be venturing too far. Register each person individually. This program will meet at Young Conservation Area in Jefferson County at 845am and then we will head to Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center in Kirkwood after an hour of blackberry picking. Please register each person attending |
