Spring is a wonderful time of year to get out and do some birding. Shorebirds (birds that can be found along mudflats or shorelines feasting on a variety of aquatic invertebrates) begin their long migration from Central and South America to the United States during early to late March (sometimes earlier). Shorebirds are known to be one of the most difficult and cryptic bird groups to identify, yet this challenge is often rewarded with seeing beautiful birds. Join us for this virtual program as we discuss when and where to observe shorebirds, equipment for observations, and tricks on identifying the most common species (such as the greater and lesser yellow legs) along with some rarities. This program will be given by Shelly Colatskie of Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center and Austin Lambert of Runge Conservation Nature Center. While this program is geared for adults, all ages are welcome. This is a virtual program. You will receive an email with Webex log in information the evening prior to the program, and again the afternoon of the program.
