This program includes handgun safety, operation, shooting fundamentals, maintenance, and safe storage.

This event will be conducted over 2 evenings. The first evening will start from 6 pm to 8:30 pm at the Cape Girardeau Nature Center located at 2289 County Park Drive. Participants will learn the basics of safety, operation of handguns, shooting stances, types of ammunition, etc. The second evening students will be assigned a shooting time based on their schedule and meet at the Apple Creek Conservation Area for an evening of shooting revolver and semi-automatic handguns. Firearms and ammunition provided at no charge. Students are not permitted to bring their own handgun to the classroom portion but permitted to bring their firearm to the range.
