Birds play significant roles that are necessary for healthy ecosystem function. Recent news stories have covered the severe decline of many bird species; and birdwatchers and conservationists are concerned about the downward population trends and are seeking solutions. This naturalist program will offer insight to local conservation support for global issues, and learn about our regional bird populations and management efforts. Educators and naturalists please be sure to invite other adults who enjoy native birds. Shoal Creek Conservation Education Center and Wildcat Park comprise of several habitat niches for birdlife from glade to parklike savannas. Conservation educator Jeff Cantrell will share his findings and experiences of the education center’s natural community. He will address some resident bird species specifically and the native habitat vital to them. Citizen science resources and MDC habitat materials will be shared for landowners and educators.
