Join us for a free Introduction to Orienteering course! In the first part of this program, participants will use a provided compass to practice dialing in and taking a bearing, sighting an object, and pacing their distance. Next, participants will use their skills to complete one of several orienteering courses at Caldwell Memorial by finding hidden treasures! The majority of the class will take place outdoors. Participants should be prepared for the weather by wearing appropriate footwear and clothing as well as a bright orange vest for visibility. The courses will require hiking up and down a steeper slope through forested areas that may be thick with brush - be prepared to orienteer like a pioneer! From Washington, take Highway 47 south 1.50 miles, then Bieker Road south 2 miles.
