Prescribed burning can be a valuable tool for managing native plant diversity and controlling undesirable vegetation, but it can be dangerous and ineffective when not used properly. This workshop will provide basic information about how to plan and execute a prescribed burn for grassland management.

*The location only indicates the nearest MDC office. Follow location directions below. This prescribed burn workshop will be indoor as well as outdoor (weather permitting). We will be covering the practical planning and application of prescribed burning, safety, and cost-share for prescribed burning. We will be burning a short fescue field and woodland as long as burning conditions are appropriate. Please bring appropriate warm clothes for outside work, leather gloves, and boots. Lunch will be provided. This workshop will be on private property, and the driveway access is at 38.054435, -92.924598. To reach the property from Camdenton: take Hwy 54 west to J Hwy. Continue north on J Hwy for 6.4 miles and turn off on Double J Valley Rd. The driveway will continue for 2.7 miles to the meeting center. Signs will be posted on the pathway for clarity.
