Chronic Wasting Disease- What you need to know and do! CWD is a neurological disease affecting whitetail deer in Missouri. Once it infects a deer it is always fatal. The disease has been found in Missouri and is slowly spreading. Locally Ste. Genevieve, Jefferson and Franklin Counties has had deer that tested positive for CWD. What can you do to help with the spread and management of CWD. Discussion will focus on ways to minimize the spread of the disease, how the disease will affect the overall deer populations, how hunters and landowners can be more proactive in the management of the disease, and what the Missouri Department of Conservation overall strategy is to contain the disease.
