| Registration required (adults): register by contacting John Haynes, (913) 742-0100 or jhaynes5018@everestkc.net. This course consists of two days of classroom instruction at the Discovery Center on September 14 & October 5, a shakedown exercise at Shawnee Mission Park on October 13 from 1-4:30 p.m. and a backpacking trip to a MO Wilderness Area October 25-27. Classroom sessions cover: equipment, trip planning, food/preparation and more. In the shakedown exercise participants will do a short hike both on and off-trail with their loaded backpack and set up their campsite. Sierra Club has a Lending Gear Library for any equipment a student needs. |
