Hunting and fishing are great ways to spend time outdoors in Missouri. But what do you do with the fish and animals that you harvested? This program is designed to help people learn how to clean the animals they killed, and to show them simple and tasty ways to prepare them for the table.

Many deer hunters go through extensive preparation getting ready for deer season. Preparation should include what to do with the deer after it’s harvested. How to get it from the “field to freezer” and then from the “freezer to fork”. This class at East Central College covers the second part of that process, the “freezer to fork” part. If you’re looking for new ways to prepare your venison, well this workshop is for you. Join Chef Mike from East Central College as he demonstrates the basics of market butchery and preparing venison for the dinner table. We will use 100% of this deer to make tasty morsels with something everyone will enjoy; offering alternatives to brats or sausages. Registration for this class is required --- by telephone only. Directions to the training center: From US Hwy 50, take Prairie Dell Road south about 1/2 mile and turn Right on Audrey Lane. The ECC training center is on the left about 1/4 mile past "Nothing Fancy" Skating Rink. Specific GPS coordinates to the Training Center are: 38°25'35.25" N, 90°58'38.10" W
