Registration required (ages 18+). Ever wonder what all those trees are in the woods of central Missouri? Well this class will use both classroom and field time to teach you how to recognize 50 common Missouri tree species. We will cover the basics of tree identification and the natural and cultural history of tree species commonly encountered in central Missouri. We will spend about an hour in class and two hours outside walking the grounds of Runge Nature Center and the Conservation Department headquarters grounds identifying trees outside. We will use a variety of methods of tree identification ranging from leaves and stems to bark. Participants will receive a Trees of Missouri field guide. Expect to hike for around 2 hours covering a few miles of ground on trails. Dress for the weather and hiking and remember to bring a water bottle, sun hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, and walking shoes. Austin Lambert
